Powering Innovation, Protecting the Planet
The GSM-based SOS unit is an emergency alert system designed as part of the Early Elephant Warning System (EEWS) to ensure rapid communication and warning dissemination among forest rangers and villages during elephant movement or human-elephant conflict situations.
This system relies on human observation and manual triggering by forest
rangers when elephants are sighted near villages, forest boundaries, roads,
or agricultural areas.
The system operates on a GSM communication network, making it suitable for remote forest locations with basic mobile connectivity and system run on solar power with battery backup no need grid power.
A forest ranger observes elephant movement or a potential conflict situation. The ranger places a call to the SOS system’s dedicated GSM number. The system detects the incoming call from an authorized number.
