EEWS-SOS-V3 - Elephant Early Warning System (EEWS) SOS With AI Camera Detection

The Early Elephant Warning System (EEWS) with AI Camera Detection is an advanced wildlife monitoring and alert solution designed to reduce human–elephant conflict through real-time visual monitoring, intelligent detection, GSM-based communication, and rapid emergency alert dissemination.

This upgraded EEWS integrates:
  • AI Camera-Based Elephant Detection
  • GSM-Based Communication Module
  • Manual SOS Activation Facility
  • Activates a hooter (siren) for audible warning to public
  • Turns ON a high-intensity warning light
  • Sends SMS alerts to pre-registered ranger mobile numbers
  • Alert reported to centralized dashboard for remote monitoring and preventive actions
  • Data logs for incidences for human-elephant conflict/ elephant moments for proactive planning.

Using strategically installed AI cameras connected to a centralized monitoring and alert platform.
When elephant movement is detected through the AI camera system, the EEWS immediately activates local warning systems and sends alerts to forest officials and ranger teams for rapid response.

Elephant Early Warning System (EEWS) SOS With AI Camera Detection

2.Automatic AI Camera-Based Early Detection Capability

The AI Camera continuously monitors designated wildlife corridors and boundary zones. When a large moving object (such as an elephant herd) interrupts the infrared beam or triggers motion detection, the signal is immediately transmitted to the microcontroller. The system processes this input and activates:

High-decibel hooter siren Flashing high-intensity beacon light SMS notifications to pre-registered ranger numbers Alert reported to centralized dashboard for remote monitoring and preventive actions

This early detection mechanism provides valuable lead time for:

  • Ranger deployment
  • Crowd control preparation
  • Preventive crop protection
  • Community warning dissemination

3.Manual Emergency Activation

In addition to automatic sensing, the system supports manual SOS triggering via an authorized ranger call. When a ranger calls the dedicated GSM number:

  • The system validates the caller ID
  • Alarm outputs are activated instantly
  • SMS alerts are dispatched to mapped team members
  • Alert reported to centralized dashboard for remote monitoring and preventive actions
This redundancy ensures that even if automatic detection is bypassed, emergency alerts can still be generated immediately.

4. System Objectives

  • Provide immediate local warning through sound and light
  • Enable fast information sharing among ranger teams
  • Reduce response time during elephant movement events
  • Improve ranger safety and coordination
  • Support human-elephant conflict mitigation
  • Centralized remote monitoring and dashboard for forest team.
5. System Working Principle (With 250m IR Sensor Integration)

The Early Elephant Warning System (EEWS) operates in two modes: Automatic Detection Mode using IR Sensors and Manual SOS Activation Mode using GSM communication. This dual-mode operation ensures continuous monitoring and rapid emergency response.

Automatic Detection Mode (IR Sensor-Based Operation)

The Early Elephant Warning System (EEWS) operates through a combined AI Camera Detection and GSM-Based SOS Alert Mechanism to provide rapid warning and real-time monitoring in elephant-prone areas.

The system continuously monitors the protected area using strategically installed AI cameras. When elephant movement is detected through live video monitoring, motion analytics, or manual observation by forest personnel, the detection signal is transmitted to the Microcontroller / Control Unit.

The system also supports manual SOS activation by authorized forest rangers through GSM communication. Rangers can trigger the system remotely by placing a call to the dedicated EEWS GSM number.
